Event Rules
All riders are expected to understand and follow the rules below to ensure a safe, fair, and professional event environment.
1. General Event Rules
- All participants must adhere to Victorian Enduro Tour rules, as well as any AusCycling and relevant regulatory requirements.
- By registering for this event, participants acknowledge and accept the risks associated with mountain bike racing and agree to follow all event regulations.
- The event will take place in all reasonable weather conditions. Organisers reserve the right to alter, postpone, or cancel the event if necessary for safety reasons.
- Riders must follow the marked course at all times. Short-cutting, using unauthorised trails, or deviating from the course may result in penalties or disqualification.
- Any rider found littering will be disqualified. The event follows a strict Leave No Trace policy to protect the environment.
2. Eligibility & Categories
- Participants must be at least 13 years old to compete.
- Riders under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver and acknowledge the event’s risk.
- Competitors must be medically fit and not pose a danger to themselves or others.
- Riders must compete in the appropriate category based on their age and experience level.
3. Equipment & Safety Requirements
- All riders must wear a full-face helmet certified to Australian Bicycle Helmet Standard AS2063 or an equivalent international standard. Helmets with detachable mouthpieces are permitted if they meet certification standards.
- Mandatory protective equipment includes:
- A long-sleeve or elbow-covering jersey (¾ length sleeves are acceptable).
- Knee pads for all riders.
- Full-finger gloves for Under 19 and younger categories.
- All bicycles must be in safe working condition, including:
- Front and rear brakes in proper working order.
- Handlebar end plugs installed. Open bars are not permitted.
- Tyres in good condition without excessive wear or visible damage.
- E-Bike category riders must only use pedal-assist E-bikes with a maximum 250W output, no throttle, and a 25km/h assist cut-off.
4. Race Format & Timing
- The event consists of multiple timed downhill stages, with untimed liaison transfers between stages.
- Riders must start and finish each stage within their assigned time slots. Late arrivals may receive time penalties or disqualification.
- Timing will be managed by the official event timing system. Personal timing devices will not be accepted as official race results.
- The winner will be determined by the fastest cumulative time across all stages.
5. Conduct & Sportsmanship
- Respectful behaviour towards fellow riders, race officials, and volunteers is expected at all times. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in penalties or disqualification.
- Riders must assist injured competitors if needed. Any participant who stops to provide assistance may be eligible for a re-run of that stage.
- Deliberate interference, blocking, or aggressive riding will result in penalties.
6. Medical & Emergency Procedures
- First aid stations will be located at the Event Village, with mobile first responders available on course.
- Riders must carry a fully charged mobile phone for emergencies.
- Any injured rider must report their condition to event officials before leaving the course.
- In the event of a crash, riders should:
- Move off the trail when possible to avoid further collisions.
- Signal to oncoming riders to slow down if assistance is needed.
7. Public Access & Trail Etiquette
- The trails remain non-exclusive during the event. Public riders may request access, and marshals will temporarily halt race participants if required.
- Riders must yield to emergency personnel, volunteers, and non-event trail users.
- Riders must follow marked signage and stay on designated trails at all times.
8. Weather & Event Modifications
- The event will proceed in all reasonable weather conditions, but adjustments may be made for safety.
- If weather conditions become unsafe, such as lightning, extreme winds, or hazardous trail conditions, event officials may:
- Modify the course, including reroutes or stage cancellations.
- Temporarily pause racing until conditions improve.
- Cancel the event if conditions pose serious risks.
9. Event Cancellation & Refund Policy
- If the event is cancelled due to extreme weather or safety concerns, participants may receive a partial refund, with deductions for costs already incurred.
- If a rider voluntarily withdraws, entry fees are non-refundable, except as stated in the official event terms.
- Entries cannot be transferred or resold. Unauthorised transfers will result in disqualification.
10. Penalties & Disqualification
- Riders may receive time penalties or disqualification for:
- Cutting the course or taking unauthorised shortcuts.
- Failing to follow event staff instructions.
- Disrespectful behaviour towards officials, fellow riders, or spectators.
- Littering on course or in the event village.
- Serious offences may result in suspension from future events.
11. Health Protocols
- Participants must self-assess for symptoms before attending the event.
- If a participant develops flu-like symptoms, they must withdraw from the event and notify event officials.
- The event will comply with all government-mandated health and safety protocols in effect at the time of the event.
12. Agreement to Event Rules
- By registering for the Victorian Enduro Tour, participants confirm that they have read and understood these rules.
- Participants agree to comply with all event regulations.
- Participants accept that non-compliance may result in penalties or disqualification.
